Threads of Nostalgia
Description:
61*61cm
This painting depicts a serene moment of creativity and quiet reflection, embodied by a mysterious blue cat—a symbolic version of my younger self. After graduating, I found myself dissatisfied with the clothing options available, so I took to designing and sewing my own. To my surprise, my creations garnered unexpected appreciation.
The antique sewing machine portrayed here is the very one my grandmother used when I was a child. It holds countless memories of her sewing and mending—a necessity for her generation, where every piece of fabric was cherished and repurposed. The patchwork quilt in the painting represents this ethos, combining different patterns into something both practical and beautiful, a testament to resourcefulness and care.
I’ve always been drawn to collecting vintage items, such as the standing lamp and the dried chili peppers strung outside the window—each object a unique gift from time itself. These details weave together a tapestry of tradition and modernity, where the past enriches the present.
This painting is a quiet reminder that joy and passion are often found in the simplest things. It reflects my belief in piecing together life’s fragments to create something meaningful, a balance of tranquility, creativity, and enduring love for the small pleasures of life.
